The article linked to by this post is a case study, made up of several timelines, showing the process of change in TEC (The Episcopal Church) which led them to their today where they are ordaining practicing homosexuals. The material is extensive. It covers TEC from before the ordination of women, into 2016 and the development of present LGBTQ issues in that church. TEC is not the SDA Church, but there are many useful things to learn from the sequence of developments there. If we are careful, we will not repeat the mistakes of others, no matter how well meaning they were so many years ago. We are sure that few Episcopalians in 1970 imagined where fateful decisions made along the way would lead their church in 2016!

Adventist Women on Ordination
The church has heard from pastors, scholars, academics, administrators, and others concerning the question of women’s ordination. But there is another voice we need to hear: Adventist women. The Council of Adventist Pastors was approached by a group of Adventist women who have created a set of videos in which they give voice on the question of women’s ordination. We are honored to share with you their video.
This short video provides an overview and preview of seven additional videos to be published next week, each addressing particular question areas in the women’s ordination debate. The video was produced by Barbara Flees and participants are Edel Amundson, Rhonda Backman, Linda Brehm, Jean Handwerk, Anita Jepson, Belinda Lowry, and Lorene Wright. Those featured all attend different churches. Some are former elders.

WO: helping or hindering unity?
Don Mackintosh considers claims that women’s ordination came as new light to the Seventh-day Adventist Church 40 years ago and that in rejecting it, we are hindering the Second Coming. Pastor Mackintosh reviews the history and sees whether this is so. Is the push for women’s ordination helping us advance toward the Second Coming, or actually hindering us? Is the pro-women’s ordination movement helping or hindering the church toward unity? Pr. Don Mackintosh served on the General Conference Theology of Ordination Study Committee.
A gender agenda, part 1
Mike Lambert, pastor of the Stateline, Oregon, Seventh-day Adventist Church, delivers the first of six presentations—all of which we shall post online over the next few weeks, from his series titled “A gender agenda.” In the series, Pr. Lambert addresses the cluster of texts and arguments favoring and opposing women’s ordination, with associated issues. In this first part, Elder Lambert begins to address Galatians 3:28 but also provides a quick but careful walk through the historic developments of the issue in the Seventh-day Adventist church from its beginning right up to the present. Stateline Church is located immediately south of Walla Walla/College Place, WA.
